Marie Lyons joined the team in 2008. Her father woke her up when she was 8 years old to climb the Reek at daybreak and she hasn’t managed to avoid Croagh Patrick since.
She’s a nurse and a wilderness first aid trainer based in Louisburgh.
She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience in remote first aid with those who work and play in the outdoors and her courses take her all over the country, the boot stuffed with skeletons and bivvy bags and other strange things. (Yes. We know. Most people keep their skeletons in the closet...)
She enjoys training the team and preparing her teammates for whatever they might find on a call out. She also gets a great kick out of her two lovely daughters, Rachel and Hannah, who despite their red Irish heads, haven’t given her a minute’s trouble.
After the pandemic she was publicly outspoken on the plight of nurses and patients in Irish hospitals, and she still advocates for nurses to anyone who will listen.
